Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan turns 80; wishes pour in from all parts of the country

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan celebrated his 80th birthday. The Chief Minister had a birthday sadya at Cliff House this afternoon and shared a cake with his family in the evening.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar reached Cliff House at 10:30 am and wished the Chief Minister a happy birthday. Pinarayi Vijayan welcomed the Governor with a bouquet. The Chief Minister's wife Kamala, daughter Veena, and son-in-law and minister Muhammad Riyas received the Governor. Pinarayi presented a Kasavu mundu and shawl to the Governor. Veena Vijayan donned the shawl on him. The Governor presented the Chief Minister with a birthday greeting printed on paper bearing the official seal of the Raj Bhavan. A lamp was also given as a gift. The Governor returned after taking a picture with the Chief Minister's family and sharing some special moments.

President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and other dignitaries extended their greetings. The Chief Minister, who arrived at the office as usual in the morning, cut a cake in the office to mark his birthday and the anniversary of his ministry. Cakes were served to all the employees. A lunch was organized for the inmates of Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram at the expense of Pinarayi Vijayan. According to official records, he was born on March 21. However, he had earlier revealed that his real birthday was on May 24. Pinarayi Vijayan was born on May 24, 1945, to Maroli Koran and Alakkatt Kalyani.
