Christmas, New Year gift soon to reach bank accounts; distribution of increased welfare pension to begin on December 15

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In view of Christmas and New Year celebrations, the distribution of welfare pensions for the month of December will begin on the 15th of this month. Social security and welfare fund pension beneficiaries will receive the increased amount of Rs 2,000 each. Finance Minister KN Balagopal has allotted Rs 1,045 crore for this.

Around 62 lakh people will receive the pension. The amount will be credited to the bank accounts of 26.62 lakh beneficiaries. The remaining beneficiaries will get their pension delivered to their homes through cooperative banks. The state government has also released the Centre’s share in advance for 8.46 lakh people.
