
MALAPPURAM: The chief minister has ordered further investigation in the incident of brutally attacking Kerala Kaumudi Tirurangadi local reporter Musthafa Cherumukku after stopping him on the road. Musthafa was beaten by Abdu Salam of Cherumukku West. He was attacked in the name of a voice message sent in the Cherumukku Nattukootam WhatsApp group.
The action was based on the complaint of Musthafa with the chief minister. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directed Malappuram District Police Chief to conduct a comprehensive investigation with an officer not below the rank of DySP and take action.
The incident happened on the night of January 2 on the Kotterithazham Road in Cherumukku West. Musthafa was beaten brutally and a voice message was sent against Musthafa's mother in the WhatsApp group in a way that insulted womanhood. Musthafa filed a complaint to the chief minister because no substantial investigation into the initial complaint was conducted. The complaint also demanded that more sections be added to investigate the insult towards womanhood. The order states that Musthafa should be informed in writing of the subsequent steps taken based on the investigation report.
