THRISSUR: After the defeat in Thrissur in the Lok Sabha elections, K Muraleedharan reacted to the incident of fighting between leaders and workers in the DCC office. Muraleedharan stated that if the conflict continues, it will affect the upcoming elections and will tarnish the face of the Congress. He said that the party should stand united at this time.

"When there is an unexpected defeat, there are many emotions among the workers. It is enough to see the conflict in Thrissur only in that way. He is of the opinion that K Sudhakaran should not be replaced in the situation where he got 18 seats out of 20 and UDF came first in 110 seats. On what basis should he be changed?" K Muraleedharan said that he should remain as the president till the next local elections.
