KOCHI: The Magistrate Court has denied actor Soubin Shahir permission to travel abroad. The decision was taken as part of the bail conditions in a financial fraud case in which the actor is an accused. Soubin had sought permission from the court to travel abroad to attend an award night. However, the court rejected his plea.
The restriction stems from a financial fraud case related to the film Manjummel Boys. Soubin, along with co-accused Shaun Antony and Babu Shahir, has already been questioned in the investigation. Earlier, the High Court had rejected their petition to dismiss the case.
The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Maradu native Siraj Valiyathura, who alleged that he was not given his share of profits from the movie. However, the producers argued that Siraj had failed to pay the full amount he was supposed to invest in the film on time. Because of this delay, the shooting schedules were disrupted and the production got extended.
