CPM in morning, UDF in evening; bridge gets two inaugurations

KALPETTA: A bridge in Mananthavady municipality was inaugurated twice on a day, once by the CPM in the morning and again by the UDF-led municipal council in the evening. The bridge connects Chennalayi and Illathumoola Road.

However, critics are alleging that the ceremonies were conducted with much fanfare even though the construction of the bridge is still incomplete. The bridge links two wards — one represented by a CPM councillor and the other by a UDF councillor. The timing of the dual inaugurations, coming just ahead of the local body elections, has also raised eyebrows.
