HARIPAD: A six-month-old baby was placed on the elephant's trunk by a mahout. Meanwhile, the baby that fell from the mahout’s hand, fell in front of the elephant's feet and had a narrow escape. The shocking incident happened in Haripad Subrahmanya temple. The dangerous act was in front of the elephant named Haripad Skandan that killed its mahout two months ago. It is reported that this elephant belongs to the temple.

Although the incident happened last Sunday, it came to light when the visuals appeared on social media. Some who were watching the dangerous act shot the visuals. After carrying the baby under the elephant, the mahout tried to place it on the trunk. Meanwhile, the baby fell on the ground right in front of the elephant's feet, but as it was calm, nothing happened.

Reports say the baby is the temporary mahout’s child. The devaswom mahout took the baby under the elephant. After the footage emerged, the devaswom authorities and the police started an investigation into the incident. The authorities said strict action will be taken against the guilty. There has also been a demand on social media for strong action to be taken against the mahout and the baby's parents.

Earlier, to get rid of babies’ fear, they are carried and walked under an elephant and are made to sit on the elephant’s trunk. However, this method was abandoned when the risk of danger became clear.
