NILAMBUR: The protest over the death Ananthu after being electrocuted by a trap set for wild boar, has become a political weapon for the by-polls in Nilambur. The opposition is using the incident to level strong allegations against the state government and the forest department. The LDF had the other day alleged that the incident in Vazhikkadavu was the result of a UDF conspiracy. Vazhikkadavu Panchayat Vice President Reji Joseph gave a strong reply to this.
Reji Joseph responded to a media that the CPM raised an allegation that was not based on facts and that he welcomed any investigation. Reji Joseph demanded the CPM to show the courtesy to say what conspiracy they had hatched in the incident of Ananthu coming in contact with the electric wire set up to trap the wild boar and die. Reji Joseph said the CPM is making such allegations out of fear of defeat.
CPM state secretary M V Govindan said the Congress and the UDF were playing substandard politics over the boy’s death. Left candidate from Nilambur M Swaraj also expressed the same opinion. CPM Politburo member A Vijayaraghavan's vehicle, which reached the spot yesterday, was blocked by UDF leaders and workers. Vijayaraghavan responded by saying that the political bankruptcy of the Congress, which is playing politics over the child's death, is evident.
The protests over Ananthu's death turned into political allegations after Forest Minister A K Saseendran alleged that the UDF protest immediately after the incident was a conspiracy against the government.
