KOZHIKODE: The police have taken a crucial move in the case of a youth who committed suicide after a woman posted a video alleging sexual assault on a bus. The police will examine the footage from the time the accused Shimjitha Musthafa, of Vadakara and Deepak boarded the bus.

The police have collected the CCTV footage from the private bus. The help of the cyber police has been sought. The woman had earlier shared two videos. However, police said that both these were edited videos. Shimjitha had gone missing after the case was registered.

The police have registered a case against the woman on the complaint of Deepak’s mother of Govindapuram Kolangarakandi Ullatthodi. Following Deepak's death, the family had filed a complaint against the woman with the chief minister and the Kozhikode City Police Commissioner. The police registered a case after recording the woman's statement.

The woman’s phone which recorded the footage will be taken into custody. The police have collected the footage shared by the woman on social media. The help of the cyber police has also been sought to collect the information of the woman's Instagram account. The woman had claimed that she had informed the Vadakara police about the incident that happened during the bus journey. However, the Vadakara inspector clarified that no such complaint was received. After strong criticism on social media, the woman deleted her Instagram and FB accounts.
