THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The public holiday declared in Kerala tomorrow as a mark of respect for former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan will also apply to banks. Banks will also remain closed in the state tomorrow. The government has declared tomorrow a public holiday and a three-day official mourning.
All government offices, educational institutions, public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies in Kerala have been declared a holiday tomorrow.
Senior communist leader and former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan passed away at 3.20 pm today. His body will be kept for public homage at the party headquarters AKG Centre and his house in Thiruvananthapuram tonight. There will also be a public homage at the Durbar Hall at 9 am tomorrow. The body will be taken to Alappuzha by noon tomorrow. The funeral will be held the following day.
