THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Rahul Mamkootathil MLA, facing charges of raping a woman. His anticipatory bail plea was rejected by Principal Sessions Court judge S Nazeera. Along with yesterday's strong argument, the prosecution presented new evidence this morning and also informed the court about the registration of a new rape case against Rahul. The court denied bail after considering all this.

The prosecution also produced in the court today the FIR in the newly registered case. The prosecution argued in the court that Rahul is a regular perpetrator of such crimes and granting bail would affect the further proceedings in the case. The main demand of the defense was to prevent the arrest. Rejecting this, the anticipatory bail was denied.
The hearing was held in a closed room from yesterday as per Rahul's request. The arguments presented by the plaintiff and the defendants yesterday, including digital evidence, lasted for more than an hour and a half. The argument, which began at 11.45 am, ended at 1.20 pm. The prosecution opposed the anticipatory bail plea.

The prosecution argued that there was strong evidence for the rape. After forcing her to get pregnant, he coerced the survivor to undergo an abortion. District Government pleader Geena Kumari, who appeared for the prosecution, produced chats proving this.

However, the defense argued that the sexual intercourse was consensual. To prove this, the survivor's chats and photos were produced. Advocate Sasthamangalam Ajith Kumar, who appeared for Rahul, produced the survivor's wedding photos to prove that the promise of marriage will not stand.

The police have got hints that Rahul will surrender in one of the courts in Wayanad following the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea. With this, the police have intensified vehicle checking. The police had earlier received information that Rahul is hiding in Karnataka.
