THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Secretary MV Govindan supported CPM state committee member NN Krishnadas who equated the media to the dogs standing in front of butcher shops. According to the CPM state secretary, the ‘dog remark’ was a fine example of good criticism.

Krishnadas rained insults at the media while escorting CPM Palakkad area committee member Abdul Shukur to the party convention meeting on Friday. Shukur had earlier resigned from the party after facing neglect and even broke down in front of the camera while explaining his ordeal and humiliation. However, a team led by Krishnadas talked truce with Shukur and wheedled him to make a return to the party. While bringing Shukur to the event, the media tried to evoke a response from the persuaded CPM man which irked Krishnadas.

“I will speak for Shukur. He has nothing to say. Those who gave news about rupture within CPM are no different from the mangy dogs seen in front of butcher shops. They should hang their head in shame. “ said Krishnadas.

Meanwhile, NN Krishnadas is standing firm on the 'dog remark'. The CPM leader said he acted based on his firm conviction and said the remark was not a gaffe.

“Abdul Shukur’s issue is something that the party could have easily solved but the media gave it undue importance which made me give that remark.” Said Krishnadas.

Former CPM MLA Swaraj also supported Krishnadas’s rude criticism of the media.
