NEW DELHI: After a brief interval, India gave a strong rebuttal to Canada for using provocation tactics. The Ministry of External Affairs rejected the report that India is interfering in Canada's internal affairs. The Ministry also said that Canada is providing a safe haven to Sikh separatists and encouraging them. It was also clarified that Canada has become a haven for anti-India separatists like Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) released a report on Sunday that blamed India and China for interfering in Canada's internal affairs and conducting espionage. The report confirmed the presence of Khalistan separatists in Canada. The report comes amidst new Prime Minister Mark Carney’s effort to repair diplomatic relations strained during Justin Trudeau's tenure.

Canada's 2025 report on internal security describes issues such as foreign interference in the country, espionage, cybersecurity challenges, and terrorism. The report notes that countries such as India, Pakistan, China, Russia, and Iran are interfering in internal affairs.

The report also states that terrorism carried out by Khalistani separatist organisations operating in Canada is a threat. Khalistani separatist groups use Canada as a base for raising funds and planning violence. The involvement of such organisations is a threat to national security and Canadian interests.
