THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The election commission has removed the 'IPS' of R Sreelekha, who is contesting as a BJP candidate in the Sasthamangalam ward of the corporation. The action was based on a complaint filed by Aam Aadmi Party candidate T S Reshmi. The complaint pointed that it is illegal to use IPS along with her name even after retirement from service.

Based on this, the election commission removed the 'IPS' written with Sreelekha's name from campaign posters in a few places. With this, BJP workers came forward and added 'retired' in the remaining places.

Sreelekha responded that even though she does not have IPS with her name, everyone knows her. Sreelekha's posters and fluxes have IPS written on them and IPS (retired) on the wall writing. The board in front of the election office has only the name Sreelekha.
