THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The local holiday declared in Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow in connection with the Thirunaal of the Madre de Deus Church in Vettucaud has been revised. The State Election Commission has issued a press release clarifying the change. Government offices related to the local body elections will function tomorrow afternoon. Offices in Thiruvananthapuram and Neyyattinkara taluks, as well as in 10 villages under Kattakada taluk, will remain open. The Election Commission stated that these offices have been excluded from the holiday declaration.

Earlier, the District Collector had declared a local holiday in Thiruvananthapuram for tomorrow afternoon due to the Vettucaud festival. However, public examinations will be held as scheduled, the Collector confirmed. The flag-hoisting ceremony of the festival will be held tomorrow evening and will be led by parish vicar Fr. Y.M. Edison. As part of the event, keys to four new houses will be handed over, and financial aid will be distributed for cancer treatment and marriages. The Pontifical Holy Mass on the 21st will be officiated by Neyyattinkara Diocese Bishop Dr Selvraj. The grand procession will take place on the 22nd.
