THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has told the High Court that it is not practical to have general guidelines for determining the safe distance for elephant parading. The government has requested that the matter be decided by the district-level monitoring committee.

In calculating the distance, factors such as the number of elephants and the availability of space must be taken into account. The government emphasized that applying a standard guideline to determine the safe distance between fireworks and the elephants is not practical. They also asked for the issue to be referred to the district-level committee for a decision.
