Elephant runs amok during nercha festival in Tirur; several injured, one critical

MALAPPURAM: An elephant ran amok amidst Puthinyangadi nercha at Tirur in Malappuram. The elephant which ran amok is Pakkath Sreekuttan. The incident happened early Wednesday morning, on the concluding day of the nercha. The elephant ran amok when it reached in front of the Jaram. One sustained serious injuries after thrown by the elephant. The injured has been admitted to a private hospital in Kottakkal. Many sustained injuries in the melee after the elephant ran amok. The elephant was chained at around 2.15 am.
