THRISSUR: The traditional “Upacharam Chollal” festival got completed putting an end to this year's famed Thrissur Pooram. In a few hours' time, the pyrotechnics show for the day will begin near the maiden close to the temple. A caparisoned Thiruvambady Chandrasekaran carried the idol of Thiruvanmbady Bhagavathy while majestic tusker Ernakulam Sivakumar carried the idol of Paramekavu Bhagavathy. The two elephants came face to face three times in a traditional ritual of “ Upacharam Chollal” and ended officially the Pooram promising to meet during the next year's festival.
As part of “Pakal Pooram”, the Paramekavu section started their procession from Manikantan Pandal while the Thiruvambady section will start theirs from Naykanal Pandal. Later in the noon, another round of fireworks will gleam the sky with thundering blows putting curtains to yet another year of festive reveling.
Last year, rain played the spoiled sport as the fireworks couldn't bill the expectation. All the downfalls were rectified this time as it was one enthralling watch as fireworks recurred in skys with ears going mute after some time amidst the sounds and lights forming a trance.
The Kudamattom in Thekkinkadu maidan yesterday was the largest ever participation recorded which was famed also for the parasol of Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi.
