CHENNAI: Vande Bharat offers luxury travel at a low cost. Vande Bharat is indigenously built under the Make in India scheme and is fully airconditioned with 16 coaches. Full marks can be given for cleanliness because Vande Bharat coaches are kept very clean. Reclining seats make for a comfortable ride. Snacks and tea will arrive to satisfy hunger during the journey. The arrangement of glass windows is convenient for enjoying the view outside, and the seats in the executive coach can be rotated up to 180 degrees.
Vande Bharat is not ready to compromise on security either. Vande Bharat also has an anti-skid system to prevent the train from derailing. All coaches are under CCTV surveillance. Moreover, out of 16 coaches, two are executive coaches. These are the features of Vande Bharat Express currently operating in India. Prime Minister flagged off the service of nine Vande Bharat trains in the country last week.
Reports are coming out now that Vande Bharat will come out with features that will put behind high-speed bullet trains in other countries. News 18 reports that the new Vande Bharat will be rolled out in 2024 with sleeper coach facilities. Railway authorities inform that the interior design work of the new coaches is almost complete.
Prime Minister will flag off the new services before the next Lok Sabha elections or in early 2024. Railway sources inform that time till March of next year has been allotted to complete the construction work of the new coaches. "The design of the sleeper coaches has already been completed. The work can be completed by the beginning of next year," said a railway official who did not disclose his name.
The design of Vandebharat is different from the sleeper coaches of current trains. A spacious berth is provided for passengers. It provides better travel comfort to passengers. Coaches will have all the facilities required for overnight travel. The train is manufactured at Integral Coach Factory. Out of a total of 16 coaches, 11 will be 3-tier AC. Four will be 2nd tier coaches and one will be first class. Sleeper coaches are built in such a way that they can travel at a speed of 160 kmph.
