Family lodges complaint against Thalassery General Hospital for delay in surgery, doctor’s negligence led to loss of teen’s arm

student

KANNUR: A complaint has been lodged against Thalassery General Hospital for medical negligence. The relatives of a student who had fractured his hand in a fall while playing alleged that his arm had to be amputated due to the medical negligence of the hospital.

The surgery was done a week later despite the broken bone. The family have lodged a complaint to the chief minister and the health minister. The family said the hospital authorities asked them to take him to the medical college on November 11 as it has been infected. By that time, the blood flow to his hand had stopped.

He was later admitted to Pariyaram Medical College but did not get good treatment there also. He was shifted to a private hospital after the doctors said his hand has to be amputated. The part below the elbow was amputated here.

His mother told a private channel that she is hundred percent sure that doctor’s negligence is the reason behind all this. If they had examined him properly from the beginning, the fate of her son wouldn’t have been this, she said.
