PALAKKAD: A farmer died after coming into contact with a snapped power line found in the plantation. The dead is Marimuthu of Kodumba Olassery in Palakkad. The accident occurred Sunday morning. Th locals said the accident occurred when he went to pick coconuts from his own plantation. Marimuthu unknowingly stepped on the broken power line of KSEB.
The power line connected to the motor in the coconut plantation was found broken. Marimuthu, who reached the plantation at around 7 this morning, went missing and was found electrocuted during a search by his family. The police and the KSEB were immediately informed.
Meantime, an electricy pole fell on the Palakkad-Attappadi-Thavalam-Mulli road, causing traffic disruption. Traffic was also disrupted when a tree fell across the road at Mangalam Dam Chittadi. 115 electric poles were damaged in various sections under the KSEB Mannarkkad division. The loss is estimated at Rs 18.6 lakh. The damage was most severe in Mannarkkad, Kumaramputhur, Alanallur, Thachampara and Agali sections. 99 LT poles and 16 HT poles were damaged. Electricity supply was also disrupted.
