THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Film organisations have withdrawn the protest that was planned for Wednesday. The decision was taken after discussions between representatives of film bodies and Minister Saji Cherian. Theatres will not be shut down, and film shootings will continue without any disruption. The minister assured the organisations that the issues faced by the film industry would be resolved.

The issue of electricity tariffs for theatres will be discussed with the Regulatory Commission. The minister also proposed reducing the entertainment tax to four per cent. Film Chamber of Commerce president Anil V. Thomas said the minister took a sympathetic and positive approach during the talks.
