Fire brigade rescue woman after leg gets stuck in drain

PALAKKAD: A woman slipped and then her leg got stuck in a drain. The incident happened on the road to the stadium stand near the IMA junction in Palakkad. The fire brigade reached and rescued the woman. Her left knee has been injured.

The woman injured is Anjana (23) working in a private firm. The incident happened when she had gone to a shop across the road from her office to have tea at around 4 pm yesterday. She slipped in the rains and then her leg got trapped in the drain. Her knee got stuck in the cover placed over the drain. She tried to pull her leg out, but couldn't. Unable to bear the pain, Anjana sat on the ground crying. Those present there also tried their best to take her leg out.


They later informed the fire brigade. They came and used hydraulic tools to cut the wires to free her leg. The rescue operation was carried out by senior fire officer S Sanal Kumar, fire officers Rajendra Prasad, R Ratheesh, Praveen, Navneeth Kannan, and fire officer driver Sivadasan.
