KOCHI: Rapper Vedan (Hirandas Murali), now at large in a sexual harassment case, was booked again on Monday for a similar crime. The Ernakulam Central Police registered a case alleging that the rapper invited a research student to his flat and sexually assaulted her. This is based on a complaint sent to the Chief Minister in an email by a Malayali student living outside Kerala. The incident is said to have taken place in December 2020.
The complainant approached the singer as part of her work to do research on tribal music form and its intricacies. It is alleged that rapper Vedan took the complainant to his apartment on the pretext of helping her complete work. In the complaint, it is also said that she fled from the flat in fear of further assault.
The High Court will issue an order on Tuesday on the anticipatory bail plea of a Vedan in the case of allegedly raping a female doctor by promising marriage. The complainant strongly opposed Vedan’s plea in court. The complainant opened up about her ordeal and said that she had to wait so long to come out of depression and thus, filing the complaint got delayed.
