PALAKKAD: A forest department official was killed in a wild elephant attack while on official duty taking a tiger census. The victim was identified as Pudur Forest Beat Assistant Kalimuthu. The tragic incident took place in Pudur, Attappadi, Palakkad.

Kalimuthu and the officer, who was with him, fled the stop after seeing the wild elephant charging at them. It is doubtful that Kalimuthu stumbled and fell to the ground.

Following the information given by the escaped officer, a search was conducted by the RRT team. The body was found later. The dead body was found in the Mulli forest area. A five-member forest guard team was trapped in the forest in Pudur the other day. The tragic incident that took place today occurred in the same area.
