MUNNAR: Former CPM MLA S Rajendran is seeking votes for the BJP candidate contesting the local body polls. He is seeking votes in plantation areas including Edamalakkudy and Devikulam. He has sought votes three times in two weeks in Edamalakkudy alone. Rajendran has been at odds with the CPM for the past four years.

‘When I contested polls, those who campaigned for me and their relatives are contesting in various places this time. I am seeking votes as part of helping them in return. I am not a member of any party presently,’ said Rajendran.

S Rajendran was a CPM MLA for 15 years. He was suspended for a year on charges of trying to defeat LDF candidate A Raja in the last assembly elections. Controversies arose when he was not taken back even after the suspension period was over. There are rumors that Rajendran will join the BJP and contest the next assembly elections.
