Former Nilambur MLA P V Anvar's fate to be known today

MALAPPURAM: Former Nilambur MLA P V Anvar will await a decision from UDF on his inclusion into the alliance on Friday. The final decision on Anvar’s entry will be made in an online meeting scheduled for Friday at 7 pm where key leaders of UDF are expected to join.

The UDF leaders on Wednesday demanded that Anvar take back his words on the UDF candidate in Nilambur and join in the campaigning work. It is expected that Anvar will oblige as he sees entry into UDF as a priority to maintain his political leverage.

The Trinamool Congress's working committee meeting will be held in Nilambur on Friday. Marathon discussions were held in the UDF regarding Anvar on Thursday. Opposition leaders V.D. Satheesan, P. K. Kunhalikutty, and Ramesh Chennithala held several discussions in person and over the phone. V D Satheesan has reportedly asked UDF to not kowtow before Anvar.

Anvar keeps no hope after the scheduled meeting with AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal in Kozhikode fell apart. Until Thursday evening, Anvar remained silent, following the advice of Muslim League leaders to not make any provocative statements. However, by late evening, Anvar gave up hope and lashed out against the opposition leader. With this, congress leaders, who were on amicable terms with Anvar slowly started distancing away.

Anvar alleged that the opposition leader threatened to resign as UDF chairman if K C Venugopal were to meet him.

“Satheesan is working hard to turn me into either Abdul Nasser Madani or T P Chandrashekaran. He seriously wants me to be behind bars and end my life in the most gruelling way.” said Anvar.
