ALAPPUZHA: Alappuzha District Collector Alex Varghese stated that the Alappuzha South Police has been instructed to conduct a detailed investigation into the statement made by former minister G. Sudhakaran regarding alleged tampering of postal ballots. The collector clarified that Sudhakaran’s testimony was taken as part of procedural steps and the police would carry out an in-depth probe. Given that the incident occurred 36 years ago and documentary evidence is unlikely to be available, the South Police has sought legal advice from the Director General of Prosecution. CI K. Sreejith said that further action would depend on the legal opinion received.
Sudhakaran exposes CPI(M)'s decay: Satheesan
Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan said that, although delayed, G. Sudhakaran deserves praise for exposing the undemocratic and unlawful actions of the CPI(M). He said that Sudhakaran’s revelation is a clear indication of the internal decay plaguing the CPI(M). The Election Commission's decision to register a case in connection with the incident is also commendable. Satheesan alleged that Sudhakaran's revelations show that the CPI(M) has not only attacked and killed political opponents but has also undermined democracy. He claimed that in places like Kannur, CPI(M) has systematically captured booths and committed electoral fraud. Congress and the UDF have pointed out these issues many times in the past, he added.
