THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: G Sudhakaran and T K Govindan have betrayed the party, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. They tried to weaken the party after joining hands with the opponents and there has been no situation where G Sudhakaran was ignored, the chief minister said in an interview to a private channel.
'Sudhakaran is the most recognized leader in the party. He was given good consideration in all stages. He was not ignored and he himself is aware of it. The age limit is a decision taken by the party congress. No one can change it. Capable comrades have opted out of the age limit of 75 years. G Sudhakaran is also one of them. However, the party in Alappuzha calls him for everything. A room has been reserved for him in the district committee office. I tried to talk to him. I tried to contact him on the phone three times but did not get him,' said the chief minister.
The chief minister also responded to the controversy over the candidate selection in the Taliparamba constituency. The chief minister asked whether it was right to deny seat on the grounds of being M V Govindan's wife. Pinarayi clarified that P K Shyamala did not become a candidate because she is Govindan Master's wife and that she has every right to contest. 'The rise of P K Shyamala teacher is not a sudden one. She was a DYFI activist even before marrying M V Govindan Master. Shyamala teacher is one who grew up through various party committees. She has also worked effectively in the local self-government sector,’ said the chief minister.
