Girl assaulted in Kottayam city: CMS college students stage protest by cutting their hair

KOTTAYAM: Students of CMS College in Kottayam staged a protest by cutting their hair against the attack on a girl and her friend in Kottayam city. The students also formed a protest chain on the campus in protest against the incident.

The girl and her friend were attacked by three youths on Monday night near the Central Junction. The culprits attacked the two for questioning eve-teasing. However, none of the locals intervened at first when moral hooliganism took place in public. Later, the police arrived at the spot and arrested the attackers.

The girl and her friend sustained injuries in the attack and are undergoing treatment at a hospital. The girl said that the incident caused her mental pain rather than physical injury. The arrested youths are Thazhathangadi natives Shabeer, Muhammad Aslam and Anaz Ashkar. The police have booked them under non-bailable sections. The court has remanded the three.
