THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The tragic tale of Sruthi, who lost her parents and her better half Jenson in quick succession, ached many hearts. Jenson died in a car accident just months after Sruthi lost her parents in the landslides. Disasters have torn apart many lives, but Sruthi’s cruel fate will continue to haunt many minds.

Along with psychological support, it is vital that the community step in to help her live a better life. Youth Congress state president Rahul Mamkootathil had promised to send small financial assistance to Sruthi every month. On Gandhi Jayanti, Rahul announced the happy news. In a novel gesture, the Youth Congress started the scheme to give Sruthi 15,000 rupees every month.

“Sruthi lost her parents in the landslides. Jenson left her in a car accident. Sruthi needs to get back to her life and she will. In a kind gesture, the Youth Congress promised to give her Rs 15000 every month. On this Gandhi Jayanthi, we can proudly say that the promise has been kept. We will start giving her money from this month.” Said Rahul Mamkootathil.
