THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The govt might announce relaxation on building permit fees this week itself. Minister MB Rajesh, who is in Kannur, will return on May 12 and hold discussions with top officials before issuing a revised order.
The government is re-examining the hike in permit fee based on the opinion raised in the CPM state secretariat that the increase in permit fee is excessive which should not be imposed on the people.
Relaxation is possible on building slabs of 80-150 square meters (862 - 1615 square feet). The revised rates for houses in this slab are Rs 50 in panchayats, Rs 70 in municipalities and Rs 100 in corporations.
