THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food Minister G.R. Anil has announced that two litres of coconut oil will be provided at a subsidised rate through Supplyco for Onam. The minister said that all ration card holders will get two litres of coconut oil per card. He also added that government intervention will further bring down the price of coconut oil in the state.
In August, one litre of coconut oil will be available to each ration cardholder at a subsidised rate of Rs 349 through Supplyco. The same cardholders can purchase another litre at the same rate until the 4th of the next month. From the 5th, additional subsidised coconut oil will be given for Onam.
This means each ration cardholder will get two litres of coconut oil at a subsidised rate for Onam. The minister also said that the Food Safety Department has been instructed to check the sale of substandard coconut oil in the market.
