Heavy rain continues, Collector declares holiday in this district tomorrow

KASARAGOD: District Collector has declared a holiday for educational institutions in Kasaragod district on Thursday, July 17, in the wake of heavy rains. Major rivers have overflowed their banks and water has entered low-lying areas following the rains. The holiday has been declared for all educational institutions in the district, keeping public safety in mind. The holiday is applicable to schools, colleges, professional colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas, tuition centres, madrasas, anganwadis and special classes in Kasaragod district. All previously scheduled exams (including professional, university and other departmental exams) will be held as per the schedule. There is no change in the exam timings.

IMD has announced that there is a possibility of very heavy rain in Kerala in the coming hours. An orange alert has been issued in nine districts. Orange alert has been issued in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. A yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts. An orange alert had been issued in five districts earlier.
