THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain will continue in the state. An orange alert has been announced in Idukki today. Chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours, according to the Meteorological Department.
Yellow alert has been announced in various districts today. Yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
According to the Central Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode districts in the next three hours and strong winds with a speed of less than 40 km per hour.
The rain will continue in the coming days. Yellow alert is in effect tomorrow in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts and the next day in Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts.
Orange alert in Idukki and yellow alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Wayanad districts on Tuesday. Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts are on orange alert on Wednesday. Yellow alert was also announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
The Central Meteorological Department has informed that fishing should not be done on Kerala coast from Monday to Wednesday and on Lakshadweep coast till Wednesday. There is no restriction on fishing on the coast of Karnataka.
