THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in various districts of the state today. Yellow alert has been issued in three districts. The districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta are on alert.

Isolated heavy rains are predicted. Heavy rains are defined as rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

A low-pressure area has formed over the southern Bay of Bengal. The IMD has informed that the low-pressure area moving northwestwards over the southwestern Bay of Bengal is likely to move northwards in the next 48 hours. Due to this, the IMD has clarified that heavy rains with thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in Kerala.
The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod in the next three hours.
