THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains are likely in Kerala for the next five days. A yellow alert has been issued today in five districts of Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. There is a possibility of moderate rain with thundershowers and strong winds reaching a speed of up to 40 kmph at isolated places in Kannur and Kasaragod districts in the next three hours. A cyclonic circulation is located over the west-central Bay of Bengal and northwest Bay of Bengal near the north Andhra Pradesh coast and adjacent south Odisha coast. Another cyclonic circulation is also located over south Uttar Pradesh. As a result, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala for five days.
A yellow alert has been issued for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts tomorrow and for Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts the day after tomorrow. Isolated heavy rain is likely. Heavy rain is defined as rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
