Heavy rains to prevail across Kerala for next five days; orange alert in three districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department has predicted heavy rainfall in Kerala for next five days. Orange alert has been declared in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Thursday. Meanwhile, yellow alert has been announced in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts.

In the next three hours, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places over Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts with gusty winds of up to 40 kmph. IMD also predicted a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.

Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are on orange alert tomorrow. A yellow alert has also been announced in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts for Friday.
