KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has refused to stay the Governor’s appointment of Prof K Sivaprasad as the interim Vice-Chancellor of KTU. Justice Ziyad Rahman issued the decision while hearing a petition filed by the state government challenging the Governor’s action.

Prof. Sivaprasad was appointed interim Vice-Chancellor following the completion of the term of Dr. Saj Gopinath, Vice-Chancellor of Kerala Digital University, who had been holding additional charge of KTU.

The state government had earlier proposed a panel of names for the post, which included Technical Education Director Dr P R Shalij and Dr Vinod Kumar Jacob. However, the Governor opted for Prof Sivaprasad, bypassing the government’s recommendations. The court’s decision allows Prof. Sivaprasad to continue as interim Vice-Chancellor while the matter remains under judicial consideration.
