KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has stayed the SNDP Yogam governing committee election procedures until May 20. This interim order was issued by a division bench comprising Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque and Justice P. Krishnakumar, in view of the decision to jointly hear all related appeals.
The appeals under consideration include one filed by the SNDP Yogam itself. A single bench had earlier struck down Clause 44 of the organization's bylaws, which provided for representative voting rights, ruling instead that all members have voting rights. A review petition filed by the Mumbai union against this verdict was also dismissed.
Following this, the Yogam filed an appeal. The court, in its order, also directed the first respondent in each case to be paid Rs 20,000 as compensation for the delay in filing the appeals.
