KOZHIKODE: Complaint that the government has given a holiday to a school citing the SFI national conference. The headmaster had given a holiday to the Kozhikode Medical College Campus High School today. The headmaster of the school explained that the holiday was given on the demand of the SFI members and that the demand could not be rejected.

The headmaster said that the school was given a holiday because SFI leaders asked schools in Kozhikode City to stop classes and cooperate as the SFI national conference was going on. The high school section dismissed the class at 10.30 am. It is alleged that SFI activists called the students out to increase participation in the closing ceremony, which Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was attending.

The principal had sent a message to the parents' WhatsApp group yesterday, indicating that the school may be closed today. The message said that parents and other vehicles should leave only after ensuring that there will be no classes after 10.30.

'Dear parents, it has come to our knowledge that a student organization has called for a strike in schools. If such a situation arises, the classes will have to be suspended. Therefore, we request parents and auto drivers to leave only after ensuring that the school remains open after 10.30' said the principal's message.

The three-day SFI All India Conference concluded today. The general conference was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at 11 am at KV Sudheesh Nagar on the Kozhikode beach.
