KASARAGOD: The Kerala Women's Commission (KWC) has revealed the name of the district with the highest number of extramarital affairs and divorces. According to the information provided by KWC, Kasaragod has reported the highest number of extramarital affairs and this leads to marital breakdown and divorces.
Last day, 31 complaints were considered in the sitting held at the Kasaragod Collectorate mini-conference hall under the leadership of Adv. P Sathidevi, Chairperson of the Women's Commission. Of these, ten cases have been settled. In three cases, the commission has asked for a police report. Counseling has been recommended in three cases. Other complaints are related to domestic violence and harassment.
The women's commission pointed out that premarital counseling should be compulsory for those entering married life and counseling facilities have been provided in schools and colleges. The women's commission explained that discussions are underway regarding organizing post-marital counseling and awareness classes and it is planned to prepare facilities for this in panchayats or anganwadis.
