Houseboat catches fire in Chithira Lake in Alappuzha, all passengers evacuated

ALAPPUZHA: A fire broke out from a houseboat in Chithira Lake in Alappuzha on Saturday. There are no reports of casualties. The passengers have been evacuated. It is believed that a short circuit was the cause of the accident. A major disaster was averted as the passengers were taken ashore immediately after the smoke emanated from the boat. The boat got partially gutted as fire spread into more areas after the passengers were evacuated.
