'I don't believe I've done anything wrong in my life'; fear only towards party, says Pinarayi Vijayan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that he does not believe he has done anything wrong in his life so far. He made the statement during an interview with actor Mohanlal in the program Kandum Mindiyum.

During the interview, the Chief Minister said that allegations against him have not affected him. He added that the only fear he has is towards his party, not the accusations made by opponents. The Chief Minister also spoke about the lock-up torture he faced during the Emergency period. He said that the brutal assault he endured in police custody inspired him to push for reforms, and that during his tenure as Home Minister, he took steps aimed at preventing lock-up deaths.

He also spoke about the pain caused by the death of senior CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and shared moments in his life that made him feel regret. The Chief Minister openly discussed his personal life, likes and dislikes. He said one of his favourite films is Amrutham Gamaya, written by M. T. Vasudevan Nair and starring Mohanlal. He added that he enjoys action movies and has a special liking for actor Rajinikanth.

The one-hour interview was released amid criticism from the opposition, who alleged that it was a public relations exercise aimed at improving the Chief Minister’s image. The program began with a song by Mohanlal and ended with a quote from the Upanishads recited by Pinarayi Vijayan.
