KOCHI: Union Minister Suresh Gopi said that his greatest wish is to serve as the chairman of the Guruvayur Devaswom Board. He said that he wants to serve Guruvayurappan as the chairman of the board and die while serving him. That is my greatest and only wish, he added. He was speaking at the 'Devi Award' function organized by The New Indian Express at Taj Vivanta on Marine Drive in Kochi.
‘I want to die serving as the chairman of Guruvayur Devaswom Board. That is all I want. I don't want anything beyond that. I think there is no harm in saying this. Otherwise, all the newspapers in North India will write that Suresh Gopi has resigned. Will write that I went to serve as the chairman of Guruvayur Devaswom. All this will be made into a big issue. It has become an unbearable situation to live,' Suresh Gopi said.
Suresh Gopi clarified that women today are not just beneficiaries of development, but have become architects of India's progress. Women empowerment is not about giving them power, but about recognizing the strength within them. He added that women's leadership and participation are crucial in building a self-sufficient and developed nation. The minister presented awards to women talents who have achieved great achievements in various fields, at the function.
