NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that it was a violation of protocol to seek the help of UAE consulate officials to deliver the bag that was left behind by the Chief Minister during his visit to the UAE. In response to a question by NK Premachandran in Parliament, the Ministry of External Affairs stated that the permission of the Ministry was not taken to send the forgotten bag through the consulate officials.

The question was whether the state administrators had sought permission from foreign diplomats to deliver the forgotten bag.
The Centre replied that the Kerala government had not taken permission to send the bag and the Ministry of External Affairs had not sought an explanation from the Kerala government on the breach of protocol. The reply also clarified that the state government did not seek permission to host the ruler of Sharjah.
