KOZHIKODE: Shocking details emerged in the murder of a young woman by her brother-in-law in Elathur. The accused murdered the young woman after convincing her of a suicide pact, as it was deemed impossible for them to lead a life together. The accused confessed to the police that he engaged in intercourse with the woman while she was hanging, and later, even after the body was brought to the floor.
While living with the joint family after marriage, the accused Vaishakhan became close to his sister-in-law. He had been sexually abusing the victim even before she reached puberty. The young woman had even recorded private moments of them on her phone. Recently, the two were at odds and quarrelled often. The woman demanded that Vaishakhan marry her, but he refused. The accused feared that she would reveal details of their relationship to his wife.
The young woman was thus persuaded and brought to the workshop owned by the accused. He made her believe that they would die together, as they couldn't marry. He made two nooses and put the first one around the young woman's neck. He knocked over the stool on which she was standing. The victim might have realised the betrayal in her final moments while battling with death. The accused raped the young woman while she was hanging, and even after untying the noose and putting her on the ground. He then called his wife and informed her that her sister had committed suicide.
The accused and his wife took the woman to the hospital in his car. All these scenes were recorded on CCTV. Although it was initially thought to be a suicide, the marks of torture and injuries found on the body during the postmortem raised suspicions. The details of the murder came to light during the subsequent examination.
