Jaundice on the rise; Malappuram native who was studying in Bengaluru dead

MALAPPURAM: Youth who was undergoing treatment for jaundice has died. The deceased has been identified as Niyas Puthiyath (23), a native of Naduvath in Malappuram. Niyaz, who was studying in Bengaluru, was undergoing treatment after contracting the disease.

Meanwhile, five more people have been diagnosed with jaundice in Mommeri in Kozhikode. With this, the number of people affected by jaundice has risen. So far, 47 people have been diagnosed with the disease in the state. The samples sent for testing at the medical camp conducted recently were positive. Ten patients were discharged from the hospital. The rest are still undergoing treatment. The Kozhikode Corporation officials have informed that preventive measures are being continued in the area in view of the increasing number of jaundice patients.
