
ROME: Reports say two Indians were shot dead during the Vaisakhi celebrations in Italy. The incident happened at Covo, in the Bergamo province of Italy. The Sikh community was returning to gurdwara after gathering for the festival when the attack happened.
The incident happened near the Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji on Friday midnight. The victims were identified as Raginder Singh (48), a resident of Covo and Gurmit Singh (48), a resident of Agnadello. The assailant shot both of them and fled in a car.
Authorities say this was a planned and executed murder. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway. Reports say the shooter is also an Indian. The motive behind the attack is unclear. Around 10 shell casings were also recovered from the scene of the attack. Another person was also injured during the attack. A search has been intensified to find the assailant.
