THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A special team will investigate the incident of KSRTC employees assaulting a father and daughter at Kattakada. A nine-member team led by Kattakada DYSP Anil has been handed over the charge of investigation. Police informed that the SC and SC (Prevention of Atrocities) Act will also be charged against the accused. The accused have not yet been arrested yet. Based on the statement of Reshma, the victim and her friend, a case was registered against the accused yesterday under the non-bailable section.

Disciplinary action may also be taken against Aji, the mechanic seen in the footage. The KSRTC vigilance team identified Aji after examining the footage. There has been widespread criticism for not taking action against him. The management plans to take strict action against the culprits as soon as the report of the internal investigation team is received.

The High Court had observed it as a shocking incident. Earlier, Justice Devan Ramachandran had directed to file an urgent report on the assault. KSRTC MD Biju Prabhakar had handed over the report to the Standing Council yesterday stating that the employees were at fault. The High Court has directed the KSRTC to speak to the father and daughter and to submit a report. Justice Devan Ramachandran had also directed to inform the details of the case. The case will be heard again on Friday afternoon.

Premanan, a native of Amachal and Poovachal panchayat clerk, was beaten up by the employees when he came to renew the concession card along with his daughter Reshma and her friend. The official asked for a course certificate to issue a new concession card. An argument ensued when Premanan replied that the course certificate was submitted when they took the card three months ago and it was not needed for renewal. Premanan said that this is why the KSRTC is still struggling and the statement triggered the employees. After this, the employees attacked him.
